Job description

The IT Business Systems Analyst contributes broad experience and a high level of expertise in business processes and system functionality. The IT Business Systems Analyst is responsible for facilitating collaborative design of technology solutions for core, critical applications to address business needs. On project assignments of high risk and complexity, the position leads and directs activities such as requirement definition, research, analysis, testing, training, and documentation. This position provides technical expertise and team leadership on major, complex initiatives.

Reports to: Director of IT

Key Interfaces: This position works closely with business owners across all Company departments in the development of application roadmaps and upgrade strategies. Additionally, this position will routinely interface with and direct external vendor partners.

* Acts as the customer / IT liaison during analysis, requirements definition and design activities; maintains a holistic understanding of a broad range of business processes and related systems; provides strategic advice for business processes and solutions; collaborates with business stakeholders to define and document business requirements and with technical partners to develop solution alternatives.

* Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures

* Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation; providing help desk support; training users.

* Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

Duties:

* Estimates, plans, schedules, organize, coordinates, and execute activities.

* Effectively manage multiple assignments and priorities

* Communicate effectively both orally and in writing to management, team members, business and technology professionals.

* Analyzes complex business problems, proposes effective solutions and understands and applies business vision and direction.

* Apply broad business knowledge and practical experience to the analysis / solution generation process

* Coordinate system testing cycle, issues tracking and resolution, which may require work during non-business hours/weekends.

* Gather requirements, write use cases, and direct development partners in the execution of enhancements.

Key Leadership Accountabilities:

* Participates in the Project Management process; understands and applies the system development methodology

* Contributes to project deliverables including vision documents, status reports, and project, risk

* Communicates status, business impacts and system changes to team members, business partners, sponsors, management and other interested parties

* Coordinates issues, tracking and resolution on high level, complex projects

* Minimum 5 years’ experience working in an IT Business Systems Analyst role.

Educational and Previous Experience Requirements:

* A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent experience is required

* Requires 5+ years of progressive Business Systems Analyst experience in an Information Technology environment and worked while leading the projects (as acting PM or having PM experience. We're not looking for developers or just quality assurance. We require someone with solid BA skills - someone who's gathered requirements, written use cases, and done testing. Someone who has worked as a BA lead (like the PM role) as far as being able to interact with customers, manage projects/deadlines, and work independently.

* Previous experience with frameworks such as ITIL, Lean, Six Sigma and/or CMMI

* Previous experience with an ERP system, CRM, and/or eCommerce platform preferred. (Epicor, Salesforce, or Magento a plus.

* A clear understanding of what it means to build loosely coupled/service-oriented systems/features

* Experience in multiple system highly integrated environments

* Demonstrated success taking a challenging initiative from concept through to adoption

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Knowledge and experience with change control
