The position operates with high independence and, in certain team structures, may also perform select product owner responsibilities, including backlog prioritization, roadmap support, backlog health management, proxy business representation, and validation of delivered outcomes against business objectives. The role typically spans eleven or more applications or related capabilities and requires expert-level understanding of the business processes supported by the delivery team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads end-to-end business analysis for highly complex, ambiguous, and enterprise-wide initiatives by integrating process, policy, application, data, and organizational considerations into actionable requirements and solution recommendations

  • Defines analysis approach, requirements strategy, and validation expectations for large or cross-functional efforts to ensure alignment between business objectives and delivery outcomes

  • Advises stakeholders, business owners, and product owners on prioritization, roadmap decisions, dependencies, and trade-offs to maximize business value, manage risk, reduce delivery friction, and improve delivery outcomes

  • Partners across Agile teams, Architecture, Data, and enterprise functions to evaluate solution options, drive alignment on enterprise initiatives, and develop complex data mappings and analysis approaches across multiple systems and data structures

  • Translates strategic objectives and business priorities into a well-structured backlog by defining epics and features, refining high-value user stories, and ensuring work is aligned to measurable business outcomes

  • Monitors backlog health by ensuring epics, features, and user stories are prioritized, sufficiently refined, aligned to strategic outcomes, and ready to support efficient delivery across teams.

  • Leads and improves analysis practices within Agile delivery by raising standards for backlog quality, requirements traceability, testing readiness, issue resolution, and overall delivery effectiveness

  • Partners with business leaders and delivery teams to define release goals, establish acceptance expectations, and confirm completed work satisfies business intent, user needs, and readiness criteria before implementation

  • Designs and delivers executive-ready presentations, requirements reviews, or process briefings for business and technology leaders, adapting messages to the audience and driving clarity on complex issues

  • Supports business value realization by defining success measures, tracing delivered capabilities to intended outcomes, and recommending adjustments to scope, sequencing, or release approach based on results and feedback

  • Provides leadership on the most challenging production and operational issues by guiding root cause analysis, coordinating cross-functional resolution, and identifying systemic improvements that reduce recurring incidents and strengthen business continuity

  • Coaches and mentors Business Analysts I, II, and III and helps establish consistent standards, templates, and practices for the BA community

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Recognized as an expert in business analysis practices, stakeholder facilitation, process and data analysis, and solution evaluation across multiple business areas or products

  • Advanced capability in SQL or data querying to support data validation, root cause analysis, issue triage, and evaluation of source-to-target data flows across complex systems

  • Ability to coach, mentor, and guide less experienced analysts while promoting consistent use of BA standards, templates, and best practices

  • Demonstrates exceptional communication, collaboration, negotiation, conflict resolution, and influence skills, with the ability to align varying stakeholders, resolve difficult issues without direct authority, and communicate complex topics in a simple and actionable manner

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • 7 or more years of relevant experience in IT solutions delivery, business analysis, data analysis, systems implementation, or process improvement, including leadership of enterprise-impacting, highly complex, or cross-functional initiatives
