Job summary

Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines is seeking a motivated student for an Information Technology Co-op. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting, analyzing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting applications across internal and vendor platforms.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's in Engineering or Computer Science (Master's welcomed) with strong communication and Excel/Word skills, detail orientation, and knowledge of Java and MS SQL Server environments.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed Bachelor's in Engineering or Computer Science; Master's in Engineering or Computer Science is acceptable.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency with Excel and Word.
• Detail oriented with knowledge of agile/waterfall development practices.
• Java stack development knowledge and SQL Server experience (SSRS/SSIS).
• Interest in financial institutions and ability to work full-time as a student.

Accountabilities

Key Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and enhance systems used throughout the Bank.
• Assist with application analysis, development, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
• Provide technical support and assistance to IT team members.
• Gain hands-on experience working with both internally developed applications and vendor-supported platforms.
• Contribute to the implementation and ongoing improvement of technology solutions.
• Develop knowledge of financial systems and banking technology environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business and operational objectives.
• Participate in system maintenance, upgrades, and performance optimization initiatives.

Requirements

• Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or pursuing/completing a Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Detail oriented.
• Knowledge of agile/waterfall development practices.
• Java stack development knowledge.
• MS SQL Server knowledge, including SQL Server Reporting Services and/or SQL Server Integration Services.

Compensation Range

Hourly: $22.00 - $22.00

This compensation range represents the Bank’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of hire. Offer to be determined by selected applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills & abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
