Job summary

Top Prospect Group in Westchester County, NY seeks a FinOps Professional to leverage a strong working knowledge of the FinOps Framework lifecycle to drive cost optimization, automation, and operating efficiency across cloud and IT environments.

This role bridges Finance, Engineering, and IT Operations to ensure cloud resources are consumed efficiently, costs are forecasted accurately, and technology investments align with business objectives while promoting shared ownership of spend.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, CS, or related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in cloud financial management, cloud operations, or IT finance.
  • Experience with cloud cost analysis tools, budgeting, savings plans, reserved instances, and cost allocation.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret both financial and technical data.
  • Ability to automate reporting and optimization workflows using APIs and scripting tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across technical and financial teams.
  • Knowledge of FinOps principles; FinOps Foundation certification is a plus.
  • Commitment to continuous learning on cloud pricing and FinOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on cloud usage and spend across AWS and secondary cloud providers.
  • Develop dashboards and reports that provide visibility into cloud costs, trends, and forecasts.
  • Partner with Finance teams to improve budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial accuracy.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through rightsizing, usage optimization, reserved instances, and savings plans.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to ensure architecture aligns with cost efficiency and performance goals.
  • Develop and implement cost governance policies and guardrails to prevent waste and uncontrolled spend.
  • Act as a liaison between Finance, IT, and Engineering stakeholders.
  • Educate teams on FinOps principles to promote shared financial accountability.
  • Present insights, recommendations, and financial impacts to leadership in a clear, data-driven manner.

PERMANENT POSITION / 125-135K / 4 days onsite / WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY
Position Summary

The FinOps Professional will leverage a strong working knowledge of the FinOps Framework lifecycle to drive financial accountability, cost optimization, automation, and operational efficiency across our cloud and IT environments. This role plays a critical part in bridging Finance, Engineering, and IT Operations, ensuring cloud resources are consumed efficiently, costs are forecasted accurately, and technology investments align with overall business objectives.

This position requires a blend of technical cloud expertise, financial acumen, and strong communication skills to influence stakeholders and promote shared ownership of cloud spending.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on cloud usage and spend across AWS and secondary cloud providers.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that provide clear visibility into cloud costs, trends, and forecasts.
  • Partner closely with Finance teams to improve budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial accuracy.
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities through rightsizing, usage optimization, reserved instances, and savings plans.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to ensure architectural decisions align with cost efficiency and performance goals.
  • Develop and implement cost governance policies and guardrails to prevent waste and uncontrolled spend.
  • Act as a key liaison between Finance, IT, and Engineering stakeholders.
  • Educate teams on FinOps principles, promoting shared financial accountability across the organization.
  • Present insights, recommendations, and financial impacts to leadership in a clear, data‑driven manner.
Process, Governance & Automation
  • Implement FinOps best practices, standards, and automation workflows.
  • Establish and manage chargeback and/or showback models for teams or business units.
  • Track adherence to budgets and enforce compliance with governance policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in cloud financial management, cloud operations, or IT finance.
  • Experience with cloud cost analysis tools, budgeting, savings plans, reserved instances, and cost allocation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret both financial and technical data.
  • Proven ability to automate reporting and optimization workflows using APIs and scripting tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across technical and financial teams.
  • Solid understanding of FinOps principles (FinOps Foundation certification is a plus).
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying current on cloud pricing and FinOps best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud cost management tools such as CloudHealth, Apptio, Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting languages such as Python, SQL, or comparable tools.
  • Prior experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), business operations, or technology finance.
