Job summary

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking an IT Technician to provide comprehensive technical leadership and support for academic, administrative, and research technologies within the College of Communication and Information. The role requires proactive problem solving, data analysis, and ongoing service improvements for classroom tech, network infrastructure, and AV systems.

You will lead student workers, train staff, and coordinate IT projects to meet the college’s strategic goals

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in any field, information technology or information systems preferred.
• 3+ years of IT tasks and projects from start to finish.
• Knowledge of operating systems, network programming, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Ability to independently analyze technical problems and implement solutions with senior staff.
• Ability to configure and maintain hardware, software, servers, and AV equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of student workers, providing training and direction.
• Analyze data on technology usage and system performance to forecast needs.
• Oversee asset management and lifecycle for IT equipment and software.
• Plan and deliver IT projects aligned with the college's strategic goals.
• Provide first-line support for faculty, staff and students on IT and AV issues.
