Job summary

The Information Technology Architect 1 (Data Scientist) at the New York Attorney General's Enterprise AI and Data Unit designs and implements machine learning models, applies statistical methods to legal and administrative datasets, and develops analytics solutions to support legal operations, case analysis, and public services.

This role collaborates across data science, engineering, and legal teams to translate complex findings into actionable insights while upholding data governance and AI

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, IT or related field and 4 years IT experience.
• 3 years of experience building ML models using Python or R.
• Experience in legal, public-sector, research, or policy-driven environments.
• Knowledge of LLMs, transformers, or generative AI architectures (preferred).
• Experience with government, legal, or regulatory datasets (preferred).
• Understanding data governance frameworks and privacy standards (preferred).
