Job summary

The New York State Attorney General's Office seeks an Information Technology Architect 1 (Lead Data Architect) to lead enterprise data architecture across warehouses, lakes and marts. You will establish governance, secure access, and guide data platform strategies to support AI, analytics, and data-driven missions.

The role requires a strong background in data modeling and centralized architecture, with preferred certifications and AI/ML experience to advance enterprise capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field with four years of IT experience.
• Four years of data management solution architecture, governance, or warehousing experience.
• Experience with data modeling: ER, ORM, and dimensional modeling.
• Experience designing centralized data architecture solutions.
• Preferred: industry certifications such as CDMP, AWS Solutions Architect, or Azure Data Engineer.
• Preferred: experience supporting AI/ML workflows and data science platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead data architecture efforts for data warehouses, data lakes and data marts.
• Establish data governance policies and secure, governed access across platforms.
• Provide technical leadership on enterprise data solutions and analytics initiatives.

The Information Technology Architect 1 (Lead Data Architect) serves as a lead data architect within the Enterprise AI and Data Unit of the New York State Attorney General's Office. This role designs and manages enterprise data architecture solutions including data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts while establishing data governance policies and providing technical leadership. The position focuses on ensuring structured and unstructured data can be securely accessed, governed, and analyzed across required platforms to support the agency's data-driven mission.

Key qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, IT or related field plus four years of broad IT experience
• At least four years of specialized experience in data management solution architecture, database design, data governance, metadata management, or data warehousing
• Experience with data modeling techniques including Entity-Relationship, Object-Relational, and Dimensional modeling
• Experience designing and managing centralized data architecture solutions
• Preferred: industry certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Azure Data Engineer
• Preferred: experience supporting AI/ML workflows and data science platforms
