Job description

IT Application Administrator - Full Time

Under the direction of the IT Manager or Director, this role manages the IT application portfolio's production and non-production environments, software systems, and third-party IT products. The Application Administrator contributes to planning, design, development, release management, troubleshooting, and support of these systems. Responsibilities include support, design input, maintenance, access, and security administration, along with troubleshooting application and data issues. The role requires communication of solutions, issues, and risks to technical management and stakeholders, with high interaction with users and teams.

The Administrator supports system performance and reliability, assists with troubleshooting hardware, software, and system problems involving application servers, web servers, process schedulers, and third-party software. Under supervision, they coordinate and install updates, collaborate on enhancements, monitor performance metrics, and participate in implementation and testing of applications. Configuration, change management, and user consultation are also key responsibilities. The role involves 24x7 support, including on-call duties, and mentoring junior staff.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support end users and interface with Service Desk, providing guidance and knowledge base articles.
  • Administer application systems, environments, upgrades, and security.
  • Assist in implementing, configuring, and supporting new services and applications.
  • Support operational checklists, documentation, and process improvements.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting with infrastructure teams, support system upgrades, and participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Follow change management processes, represent application changes in meetings, and deploy application and third-party tools.
  • Support 24x7 environments, monitor software upgrades, and research new solutions for performance improvements.
  • Maintain documentation, stay updated on new tools and technologies, promote teamwork, and mentor junior staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 3-5 years of application administration or development experience.
  • 1+ years of SharePoint site-level administration or web development.
  • Experience with Windows and SQL platforms, supporting cloud communication, and third-party applications.
  • Ability to work off-hours in a 24x7 support environment.
  • Preferred experience in healthcare settings, with ServiceNow, SharePoint, and Office 365.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
