Job summary

State of Nebraska’s Health & Human Services agency is seeking an IT Analyst I to join the CFS Data and Analytics team. You’ll design, maintain, and analyze databases, build dashboards in Power BI and Excel, and support state and federal reporting across child welfare programs.

You’ll work with SQL, R or Python for data analysis, ensure data quality, and translate insights into actionable recommendations for leadership and stakeholders; relocation to Nebraska may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Computer Science/IT with 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination.
• Strong SQL, data visualization (Power BI/Excel), and data quality controls.
• Familiarity with data warehouse environments such as Snowflake/DBX.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and troubleshoot relational databases to support operational and reporting needs.
• Design and optimize data tables, indexes, and relationships to improve performance and data integrity.
• Implement data quality controls and validation rules within systems.
• Develop and run SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to extract data from systems.
• Automate ETL processes to ensure timely data flows.
• Integrate external datasets with internal databases for analysis.
• Build dashboards and reports in Power BI and Excel for leadership.
• Translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
• Support program evaluations with IT-based analytics.
• Develop automated processes for federal reports and ensure compliance.
• Document technical workflows for reproducibility and audits.
