Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an IT Administrative Assistant to handle administrative tasks for the IT department. The role supports leadership by handling day-to-day tasks, including billing, procurement, documentation, inventory, user access, and archival work.

Description

Our client is looking for an IT Administrative Assistant to take on the administrative tasks the IT department is responsible for. This will allow leadership to focus on driving the strategic vision of the organization forward while still getting the critical day-to-day tasks accomplished correctly and on time. This person will not be doing any development, but will be working heavily within tools and platforms that the IT department is responsible for. Some of the tasks this person may help with are are IT billing and procurement, documentation, inventory, user access, document archival, schedule and meeting coordination, and organizational communication. Many of the documents this person will be working with are in SharePoint, so SharePoint experience is strongly preferred.

The right candidate does not need to have hands on experience with all of the technologies in their environment, but needs to understand that learning how to work in these technologies is a non‑negotiable part of the job. Candidates should have strong technical aptitude and a proven history of learning new technologies in jobs.

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite including, 365 Admin, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Access. Understanding of Docusign, basic application configuration skills. Baseline knowledge of computer hardware and network configurations. General understanding of AI, prompt engineering and chatbot configuration
  • Technical Acumen: Ability to understand end‑user perspectives (technical and non‑technical). Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Soft Skills: Strong customer service, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information and data. Decision‑making skills to work autonomously and manage specific tasks. Communication and collaboration skills to support all staff members. Serves as an ambassador for the department and managers to IT guests, vendors, grantees and partners. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent customer service, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Troy, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
