Job summary

Transwest, Inc. in Kentucky is seeking an experienced Isuzu Service Technician to diagnose, maintain, and repair Isuzu commercial trucks. You will complete repairs efficiently and accurately, ensuring compliance with dealership and manufacturer standards.

Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns, performing preventive maintenance, and communicating with the Parts Department. A valid driver's license and dealership experience are valued assets.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean MVR.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing passenger automobiles.
  • Dealership experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with gas and diesel truck repair including engine, transmission, drivability and electrical diagnostics.
  • Proficient in computer information systems used in service (Tech II, SI2000).
  • Candidate must possess hand tools and be detail oriented.

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair Isuzu trucks (gasoline and diesel).
  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders and ensure quality workmanship.
  • Document findings and repairs in system notes; communicate with Parts.
  • Road test vehicles to verify repairs and performance.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Isuzu Service Technician to diagnose, maintain, and repair Isuzu commercial trucks. This position is responsible for completing high-quality repairs efficiently and helping keep our customers’ vehicles safely on the road.Previous Isuzu experience is preferred but not required. Technicians with experience servicing diesel, medium-duty, or other commercial vehicles are encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair Isuzu commercial trucks, including gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders.
  • Complete repairs efficiently and accurately in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, drivability, and emissions-related concerns.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and DOT-related vehicle inspections, as assigned.
  • Verify warranty coverage, when applicable, and follow manufacturer warranty procedures.
  • Communicate with the Parts Department to identify and obtain necessary parts.
  • Save, tag, and properly document warranty parts.
  • Notify the shop foreman when additional repairs are needed or a repair order should be adjusted.
  • Document diagnostic findings, repairs, and recommendations in technician comments during each active time punch.
  • Road test vehicles, as needed, to verify repairs and assess quality.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Isuzu service information, technical bulletins, diagnostic procedures, and manufacturer updates.
  • Keep customer vehicles clean and protected while being serviced.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Properly maintain and account for dealership-owned tools and equipment.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local requirements governing workplace safety and hazardous-waste disposal.
  • Adapt to changing business needs, including emergencies, staffing changes, workload fluctuations, rush repairs, and new technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions at the dealership location.
  • Ability to sit, stand, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and fine-motor skills necessary to operate tools and service vehicle components.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms and lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment and light- to medium-duty commercial vehicles.
  • Normal range of hearing and vision, with or without reasonable accommodation.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License and MVR in good standing.
  • Candidate must have experience diagnosing and repairing passenger automobiles.
  • Dealership experience a plus!
  • Candidate must be a motivated individual who can work independently.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of gas and diesel truck repair and maintenance including; engine repair, transmission repair, drivability and electrical diagnostics, suspension, brake systems, etc.
  • Proficient in appropriate computer information systems including Tech II and SI2000 (GMC Chevrolet).
  • Candidate must possess a complete set of hand tools with rollaway toolbox.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
