Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer - Body & Closure Systems to join the Vehicle Development department in Hayward, CA. The role focuses on triage, containment, and corrective actions across door systems and body structures to ensure production readiness.

Ideal candidates bring 6–8 years in automotive or complex hardware environments, with strong RCA skills and cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6–8 years of experience in automotive OEMs, robotics, aviation, or other complex hardware systems within manufacturing, product engineering, or sustaining environments.
• Strong understanding of vehicle body & closure systems, including door systems, latches, actuators, sealing, access panels, glazing, and body structures.
• Proven experience leading root cause analysis and corrective actions in production, manufacturing, or field environments, including new product launch support.
• Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead triage, containment, and resolution planning for issues identified during general assembly and end-of-line testing across door systems, latches, actuators, sealing, access panels, glazing, and body structures.
• Define and execute short-term containment actions, including rework plans, part quarantine, and build flow protection to keep production moving.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to lead root cause analysis across design, process, supplier, and manufacturing domains, identify blockers, and drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements.
• Support cross-functional teams in implementing permanent corrective actions (PCA) and preventing recurrence through disciplined follow-through.
• Support prototype builds, production trials, and engineering changes to validate fixes and improve manufacturability.
