Job summary

Modern Woodmen of America in Rock Island, IL is seeking an Issue Analyst in our Underwriting Department. You will investigate and resolve application issues, process life insurance transactions, and help keep operations accurate and efficient.

You will review forms, enter data, verify payments, and collaborate with other teams to support underwriting standards while building a solid foundation for our member services.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Comfortable using computer systems and data entry with high accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews applications and documents to ensure forms are submitted and completed correctly.
  • Enters necessary application information into the system.
  • Applies payments and verifies proper accounting.
  • Requests additional information per underwriting requirements.
  • Coordinates with other departments to process applications.
  • Reviews medical information, lab work and other documents.
  • Approves, rates, or refers applications per guidelines.
  • Assists Financial Representatives with procedural questions.
  • Prepares certificates for mailing.
  • Learns underwriting software, provisions, and state laws.

Are you a detailed-oriented problem solver who likes to make an impact behind the scenes? If so, Modern Woodmen of America is hiring an Issue Analyst in our Underwriting Department. As an Issue Analyst, you'll investigate and resolve application issues, process life insurance transactions, and help keep business operations running smoothly and accurately.

Responsibilities:
  • Reviews application and corresponding documents to determine if proper forms have been submitted and completed properly.
  • Enters necessary application information into the system.
  • Applies payments and verifies proper accounting.
  • Requests additional information as indicated by underwriting requirements.
  • Works with other departments to process applications as necessary.
  • Review medical information, lab work, and other documents.
  • Approves, rates, or refers applications as determined by underwriting guidelines and departmental procedures.
  • Assists Financial Representatives and other department personnel with any procedural questions.
  • Prepares certificate for mailing.
  • Must be willing to learn software programs, certificate provisions, organization policies and procedures, state laws, and departmental procedures related to the underwriting process.

What we offer:
  • Pay: The hourly pay for this position is $20.50. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employment-based sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time, nor can we guarantee future sponsorship.
  • Work Arrangements: This is a full-time office focused, hourly position: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day), Monday- Friday, with flexible start time between 7 a.m.-9 a.m. Office focused positions work on-site due to the nature of the work and have limited remote days.
