Job summary

Nightwing is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support a government customer in the Dulles, Virginia area. The ISSE will support a team of talented software developers and engineers providing application development and operations and maintenance support to Sponsor mission critical systems.

The salary range is $99,000–$206,000; compensation will reflect qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline is required.
• 8+ years of experience in federal cybersecurity.
• Experience with federal IT environments and security compliance.
• Knowledge of NIST SP 800-3, 800-37 RMF, and related processes.
• Familiar with secure system design, encryption, identity management and access control.
• Ability to produce high-quality audits and accreditation documentation.
• Experience running vulnerability scans (Nessus, AppDetective, WebInspect).
• Experience with Sponsor's A&A Tool and NIST security controls.
• TS/SCI with Polygraph required Day 1.
• Experience with AWS cloud security compliance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare A&A documents and procedures.
• Collaborate with program ISSE and security representatives.
• Support the IA program per USG requirements including DCIDs ICD 503 and NIST.
• Design, implement, and sustain secure government information systems.
• Work with system owners and security teams to protect mission systems.
• Engineer and maintain security controls per NIST RMF.
• Develop security documentation (SSPs, POA&Ms, diagrams, continuous monitoring).
• Evaluate emerging technologies to strengthen the sponsor's security posture.
• Monitor security systems, analyze logs, and respond to incidents.
