Job summary

LMI Consulting, LLC is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to design, implement, and validate security controls for AWS infrastructure and mission applications. This remote role requires an active Secret clearance and may require travel for integration and assessments.

Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance required; Top Secret may be needed.
• 5+ years in systems security engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience implementing and validating security controls.
• Experience securing DoD information systems and DODIN networks.
• AWS workloads security experience with IAM, VPC, encryption, logging and monitoring.
• Linux and container security with Kubernetes.
• Scripting, IaC, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Networking knowledge: TCP/IP, firewalls, segmentation.
• RMF/NIST SP 800-53/STIGs and vulnerability remediation.
• Security certifications and ability to meet DoD 8140 requirements.
• Strong technical writing and coordination; ability to work with distributed teams; travel.

Responsibilities

• Translate mission needs into system architectures, controls, and test criteria.
• Perform threat modeling and security design reviews.
• Engineer and implement controls for AWS, Linux, containers, Kubernetes.
• Configure IAM, least-privilege, network segmentation, encryption, secrets, auditing.
• Apply STIGs and baselines; test changes for security effectiveness.
• Integrate security checks into CI/CD pipelines.
• Use scripting and IaC to deploy security controls and detect drift.
• Analyze vulnerabilities and remediate with evidence.
• Develop security verification tests and support assessments.
• Produce RMF artifacts and ATO evidence.
• Coordinate remediation with ISSO/ISSM; document residual risks.
• Assess changes and maintain runbooks; support incident response.
