Job summary

Copperas Cove ISD seeks an ISS Aide to supervise students in the In-School Suspension program under the supervision of the principal and a certified teacher. This role requires maintaining discipline and providing a productive learning environment for suspended students.

Responsibilities include supporting classroom teachers, coordinating with campus administrators, and assisting with clerical tasks while ensuring confidentiality and safety during school hours.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: Must have one of the following: 48 hours of college credit, or Associate's Degree or higher, or HS or GED with Region 12 Paraprofessional Academy certificate
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work well with children; Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; Ability to use personal computer
• Experience: One year experience as classroom aide.

Responsibilities

• Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to provide an environment for students removed from their classroom.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies and district regulations.
• Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
• Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
• Supervise students assigned to ISS program during lunch and bathroom breaks.
• Assist in supervising students during the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom and bus duty.
• Assist with office clerical duties as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Supervise students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS) program for disciplinary reasons. Work under the general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Reading; ability to follow instructions (written and verbal), communicate effectively, use personal computer, and maintain emotional control under stress. Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Moderate standing, stooping, and bending.
