Job summary

Oklo is seeking a Process Engineer to join the Isotopes team. You will design, analyze, and operate fluid and process systems for isotope production, recovery, purification, and handling, with emphasis on safe and scalable processes.

You will own process systems, develop documentation for fabrication, commissioning, and operation, and work with vendors to analyze and test equipment. The role requires collaboration across teams in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from the minimum qualifications.
• 5+ years designing, analyzing, or modifying fluid, thermal, or process systems in relevant industries.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and system operation.
• Ability to apply process engineering to systems with radioactive materials and product quality requirements

Responsibilities

• Design fluid and process systems including piping, valves, compressors, pumps, and heat exchangers for isotope production and related processes.
• Define process equipment architecture, specifications, modes, and performance criteria.
• Prototype bench- or pilot-scale systems for iterative design refinement.
• Produce documentation for layout, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and operation with contamination control considerations.
• Own assigned process systems and maintain design basis and performance.
• Prepare technical docs supporting regulatory filings, safety analyses, and operations.
• Collaborate with external vendors on equipment analysis, procurement, and testing.
• Develop and maintain process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and mass/energy balances.
• Support isotope product requirements including yield, purity, traceability, and contamination limits.
• Conduct process hazard analyses and implement risk reduction measures.
