Job summary

The Nature Conservancy seeks a Preserve Manager for Palmyra Atoll. You will lead remote operations, supervise seasonal staff, and manage facilities from generators to photovoltaic and water systems. Strong leadership and communication are essential on this unique field site.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, 5 years in facilities/operations, and First Aid/CPR certification. Board and lodging are provided on-island; valid passport and health clearance are needed for assignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years’ experience in facilities management and operations.
• 1 year of experience in a confined community such as aboard a ship, field camp, or remote field station.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise staff to support safety and operations.
• Experience overseeing construction or maintenance of buildings/facilities; knowledge of engines, generators, hydraulics, energy systems.
• Experience with food preparation, housekeeping, and inventory controls.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical work; proficient in MS Word/Excel for reports.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee overall management and safety of Preserve operations and staff.
• Supervise seasonal staff and volunteers; ensure smooth running of facilities.
• Maintain facilities equipment: generators, marina, photovoltaic systems, kitchen and housekeeping services.
• Collaborate with partners and donors; report to Field Operations Manager.
