Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking an Engineering Support Specialist to provide engineering level support for bus testing and ensure compliance with U.S. DOT/FTA requirements.

You will oversee emissions and dynamometer testing with faculty and staff as well as research activities in support of the Bus Testing Center. Responsibilities include ISO-17025 audits, training staff on test procedures and safe operation, and reviewing testing procedures, data collection and reporting.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
• Familiarity with ISO-17025 accreditation standards
• Ability to perform basic mechanical, electronic and electrical design and fabrication
• Experience conducting ISO-17025 compliance audits
• Ability to train staff in test procedures and operation of test equipment

Responsibilities

• Oversee bus testing to ensure compliance with U.S. DOT/FTA requirements
• Perform vehicle emissions and dynamometer testing with faculty and staff
• Specify and purchase equipment for research and testing
• Ensure test equipment is calibrated in accordance with ISO-17025
• Train staff and technical service employees in test procedures and equipment operation
• Review, perform and revise automotive testing procedures, data collection and reporting
