Job summary

City of Raleigh is seeking a Utilities Coordinator to lead the EMS program under ISO 14001, coordinating audits, corrective actions, and registration across Public Utilities Department. You will develop training and educational initiatives to improve environmental performance and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong communication, data-driven analysis, and the ability to translate environmental standards into practical processes for staff and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or 2 Years of College in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field; 3–5 years’ experience in utility system asset management, inventory control, or related work.
• OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
• ISO 14001 Internal Auditor Certification

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with EMS Team to develop and implement environmental objectives and targets.
• Facilitate the document control process for the EMS.
• Develop SOPs related to the EMS.
• Develop and conduct an audit program for the EMS, including corrective action tracking.
• Work with third party EMS/ISO 14001 Registration Company to ensure certification is maintained
• Regular review of the EMS manual and controlling documents to reflect current activities
• Coordinate EMS communications, training activities, records management, and meeting support
• Manage Registration process for ISO 14001 Certification and compliance
• Develop environmental education for staff
• Prepare presentations and reports concerning ISO 14001/EMS procedures and activities
• Support special projects and continual improvement initiatives
