City of Raleigh North Carolina’s Raleigh Water Safety Program seeks a part‑time Safety Staff Analyst to develop and update safety training materials, deliver or coordinate trainings, and maintain records. The role supports compliance and continuous safety improvements across facilities and operations.

Raleigh Water is the City of Raleigh’s publicly owned water utility, providing clean, award-winning drinking water and reliable wastewater services to residents across Raleigh and its merger communities. The department operates multiple treatment facilities and manages thousands of miles of water and sewer infrastructure, delivering essential public health and environmental protection services.
The Safety Staff Analyst supports this mission by helping ensure Raleigh Water employees work in a safe, compliant, and well-trained environment. This role develops and updates safety materials, assists with delivering or coordinating safety trainings, maintains training records, and supports overall administration of the department’s safety program. The position partners with operational teams to implement safety practices, reinforce regulatory compliance, and promote consistent safety culture across all facilities.
You are detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about workplace safety. You enjoy creating clear, engaging safety content, helping colleagues understand safety expectations, and building consistent processes that support compliance. You are comfortable presenting information, tracking training completion, and working with digital learning tools. You communicate effectively about risks, alternatives, and corrective actions.

This is a part-time, temporary position not to exceed 1,000 worked per year.

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and 1 year experience in workplace safety, training coordination, instructional support, or a closely related field
OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of forcefrequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Work is typically performed in an office or similar indoor environment.
Work in this position does not require frequent environmental exposures.
