Job summary

Preferred Risk Insurance seeks an experienced iSeries Developer to maintain and modernize applications on the AS/400 platform. You will work on RPG IV/ILE, RPG Free, and embedded SQL while collaborating with teams to gather requirements and drive improvements.

Ideal candidates will leverage Visual Studio Code with IBM i extensions, participate in code reviews, and support deployment standards. A self-starter who communicates well with stakeholders will thrive.

Qualifications

Proven experience in full lifecycle delivery of complex systems.
Strong knowledge of RPG IV/ILE, RPG Free, SQL and CL on iSeries.
Experience with Visual Studio Code and IBM i extensions.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Enhance and support core business applications in RPG IV/ILE and Free form.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and create specs.
Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and coordinate QA tasks.
Create technical design documentation.
Implement and maintain development standards and deployment processes.
Contribute to modernization using SQL, APIs/web services, and AI (e.g., ChatGPT).
Assist with IT Help Desk tickets for production issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues for performance and reliability.
