Job summary

Orionplacement in Irvine is seeking a licensed California attorney with 1+ year of patent prosecution experience to draft, prosecute, and manage U.S. patent applications for electrical engineering and computer science tech.

You will work on complex matters directly with inventors, engineers, and clients, including portfolio strategy and international matters, in a full-time on-site role.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar license is required.
• 1+ year of patent prosecution experience.
• Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree or strong technical background.
• BigLaw or established IP boutique experience is preferred.
• Strong drafting, writing, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Irvine; USPTO registration is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Draft, prepare, and prosecute U.S. patent applications on sophisticated tech.
• Analyze disclosures and translate into strong patent applications.
• Prepare responses to USPTO Office Actions and progress applications.
• Collaborate with inventors, engineers, executives, and clients on technologies.
• Conduct patentability analysis and support portfolio development.
• Participate in examiner interviews and other prosecution matters.
• Coordinate with colleagues and foreign counsel on domestic/international matters.
• Manage deadlines, priorities, and multiple matters with accuracy.
• Take increasing ownership of client communication and patent strategy.
