Job summary

James River Grounds Management is seeking an Irrigation Technician to install, test, and maintain irrigation systems, including sprinklers, pumps, water lines, and valves. You will work with field staff to diagnose problems and ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.

The role requires hands-on experience with irrigation hardware and adherence to safety procedures. Opportunities exist for training and career growth within our Virginia-based operations.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Able to operate trenching and boring equipment and shovel.
• Knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, materials, and practices in irrigation.
• Knowledge of PVC installation and techniques.
• Provide detailed irrigation site assessments.
• Perform basic math calculations.
• Respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
• Work safely and follow safety procedures.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Designs, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs irrigation controllers, including electrical.
• Assists field personnel with diagnosing and troubleshooting irrigation problems.
• Uses a proactive approach to irrigation system management.
• Performs site assessments, inspects equipment, inventories supplies and maintains on-hand materials.
• Maintains and troubleshoots control valves; repairs irrigation mainlines 1" to 12".
• Repairs backflow prevention devices; trains personnel as needed.
• Conforms to OSHA regulations; maintains records of maintenance and work orders.
• Communicates issues with supervisors; prepares necessary documents and reports.
• Supports safety and environmental protection; reports unsafe conditions.
• Operates equipment safely and performs other duties as required.
