James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking an Irrigation Technician to maintain university irrigation systems, lead turf care and equipment operations, and support athletic fields and events.

This full‑time role offers a 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. schedule (summer hours may vary) with overtime for special events and weather. A criminal background check and E‑Verify are required; driving eligibility must be met and safety is a priority.

Qualifications

• Experience with turf irrigation installation, repair, maintenance, and scheduling.
• Knowledge of pesticide handling, storage, and disposal.
• Ability to operate landscaping equipment and heavy machinery.
• Must meet driver’s license requirements and driving record.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs, troubleshoots, inspects, and maintains irrigation for the university.
• Trims, edges, and operates equipment to keep campus landscaped.
• Leads assigned work and ensures safety.
• Operates a range of equipment including tractors, mowers, and snow removal tools.
• Performs safe pesticide applications as directed.
• Must work home football games and be available during events.
• Designated essential employee required to work during closings.
