Job Summary:

A technician who develops and maintains irrigation water delivery systems, many of which are computer-controlled. This team member installs, operates, repairs, and improves irrigation systems in conjunction with landscape maintenance teams to maintain landscape health and show quality. They should have a strong grasp of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, quickly evaluating hydraulic, wiring, and controller-related issues in sprinkler and washdown water systems. The technician can install all components of an irrigation system, including various sizes of main and lateral lines, working to maximize system efficiency in a constantly evolving landscape.

Major Responsibilities:

• Install and repair irrigation systems in new and existing areas. Troubleshoot and resolve wiring and hydraulic issues at all system levels.
• Perform preventive maintenance through detailed monthly inspections, testing irrigation zones and components. Communicate watering schedule recommendations to the team lead.
• Adjust irrigation systems to ensure proper operation aligned with landscape needs. Assist with watering requests from landscape teams and other departments.
• Maintain Horticulture show quality standards during landscape disturbances, including plant removal, replacement, and mulching.
• Use business systems to create work orders and record labor hours.
• Locate underground irrigation lines for FPU upon request.
• Understand and participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following UO policies, procedures, training, and team activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.

Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience in commercial irrigation; fewer years may be considered based on project size.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

• Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
• Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) preferred.

Additional Information:
