Job summary

Colonial Country Club, located in Fort Myers, FL, is seeking a full-time Irrigation Technician to manage irrigation systems and provide excellent guest and member experiences. The role requires a proactive, organized individual with a passion for golf and hospitality.

Responsibilities include scheduling irrigation activities, monitoring equipment and budgets, and collaborating with the Superintendent on water-management strategies. Flexible schedule with some weekend/holiday work.

Qualifications

  • Must possess basic computer skills (Word and Excel).
  • Strong business aptitude and passion for golf business.
  • Highly organized with high attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with the Rain Bird IC System is recommended.

  • Institutes and implements Troon HR guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Compensation:

$23.00 - $25.00 per hour

Summary:
Ideal candidates have a genuine passion for leadership. As an Irrigation Technician, you will be responsible for providing incredible guest service and member experiences by assisting with one of the most important aspects of the golf course — the irrigation system.

Schedule:
Flexible schedule required, with availability to occasionally work weekends and holidays as needed. Works extended hours during golf and holiday seasons.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepares weekly schedules for irrigation repair, preventive maintenance, and watering cycles.

Monitors inventory and use of all irrigation equipment, preventive maintenance schedules, and safety training.

Works closely with the Superintendent in managing the annual budget for irrigation.

Works closely with the Superintendent in preparing short-term and long-term strategies to improve water management.

Institutes and implements all Troon Human Resources guidelines.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess basic computer skills, including Word and Excel.
  • Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business.

  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge/Skill:

  • Experience with the Rainbird IC System recommended.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and expense management.

Education and Experience:

1–3 years of turfgrass experience required.

Physical Requirements:
Physical activity including long periods (6–8 hours) of standing, walking, bending, and scooping. Regularly reaches with arms and hands. Occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Environment/Noise:
Moderate exposure to extreme cold, heat, working outdoors, chemicals, pesticides, gasoline, vibration, pollen, dust, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards. Noise level is typically moderate to loud.
