The Oxnard School District is seeking two Irrigation Specialists to perform maintenance, repair, and design work on district irrigation systems. Work involves testing backflow devices, reading blueprints, and ensuring safety compliance on school grounds.
Qualifications include a minimum of three years in irrigation maintenance, a high school diploma or equivalent with specialized irrigation training, and a valid driver’s license plus a backflow tester certificate within one year of employment.
2 Irrigation Specialist positions - 8.0 hours per day, 246 work days per year
An eligibility list will also be established to fill all vacancies over the course of the next year.
To perform a variety of maintenance and repair work to automated and manual irrigation systems; to perform backflow prevention device testing; and to perform a variety of technical duties relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible irrigation system maintenance and repair
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in irrigation system maintenance and repair or a related field.
All licenses, certificates, and other requirements listed above are required at the time of employment and must be maintained during the course of employment unless otherwise noted.
This is a Dual Certification recruitment: Candidates who attain a passing score on each examination part will be placed in rank order on an eligibility list after promotional credits are added to the composite test scores of promotional candidates. These examinations are open to permanent employees and the public.
