Job summary

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is seeking an Irrigation Technician to maintain, repair, and oversee irrigation systems across the garden. This full-time, year-round role operates under the Irrigation Manager with a schedule of Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:30 PM, plus occasional weekend on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• Valid irrigation license or minimum of 3 years hands-on irrigation maintenance and installation experience.
• Strong working knowledge of various irrigation systems and pump operations.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to organize workflow efficiently, complete tasks on schedule, and foster team collaboration while maintaining a professional work ethic.
• Proficient in verbal and written communication; basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair irrigation systems to ensure efficiency and adherence to standards.
• Lead and coordinate support staff during larger irrigation projects for timely completion.
• Oversee external contractors performing irrigation and pump system repairs.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and update documentation to track project progress.
• Develop and implement written SOPs for irrigation systems.
• Safely operate equipment and ensure tools and machinery are secured daily.
