Job summary

Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden seeks a Greenhouse Gardener to support daily greenhouse operations under the direction of the Greenhouse Manager and Crew Lead. The role focuses on plant care, propagation, research trials, and greenhouse maintenance, involving outdoor work and physical labor including operating machinery.

Responsibilities include propagation, watering, irrigation support, material delivery, and weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• Lifting up to 30 pounds and work in all weather conditions following safety guidelines.
• Good verbal and written communication; bilingual English and Spanish proficiency is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with strong organizational skills.
• Flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license to operate garden vehicles.
• One year of relevant experience (preferred).
• Ability to pass pre-employment background checks, physical evaluations, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of plant propagation, including seed sowing and vegetative propagation.
• Water daily and monitor plant health.
• Perform routine greenhouse maintenance tasks per weekly schedule.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in greenhouse, potting area, and storage spaces.
• Assist with preparing, pulling, and loading materials for delivery to the Arboretum.
• Aid in installation, maintenance, and repair of drip irrigation systems.
• Operate a box truck for transportation of materials and equipment between multiple locations.
• Availability to work weekends on a rotating schedule.
