Job summary

DTE Construction - Sun State is seeking an Irrigation Crew Member to support irrigation installation and construction projects within our landscaping division. You will assist in building, installing, and testing irrigation systems for new landscapes, renovations, and large-scale projects, working outdoors and collaborating with crew leaders and foremen.

The role requires physical labor, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to learn irrigation installation techniques and follow instructions.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to pass a driving record check (MVR).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of irrigation systems including trenching, pipe installation, valves, heads, wiring, and controllers.
  • Perform physical labor such as digging, trenching, backfilling, and material handling.
  • Support layout of irrigation lines according to plans and job specifications.
  • Assist with connecting and testing irrigation zones for proper coverage and operation.
  • Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials to job sites.
  • Perform jobsite cleanup and restoration after installation activities.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment under supervision.
  • Follow all safety procedures, jobsite rules, and company policies.
  • Work collaboratively with crew leaders, foremen, and other construction team members.
  • Report issues or discrepancies in plans, materials, or site conditions to leadership.
  • Performing preventative and diagnostic system checks on an ongoing basis.
  • Reporting system check findings to the operations leadership team.
  • Understanding client needs while meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving irrigation issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Safely operating and maintaining irrigation equipment and all other company property.
  • Communicating escalations to the Account Manager and/or Irrigation Manager.
  • Maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude with internal and external clients.

As an Irrigation Crew Member, you will support irrigation installation and construction projects within our landscaping construction division. Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to learn irrigation installation techniques and follow instructions
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and perform repetitive physical tasks
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings or extended shifts as project demands require
  • Reliable transportation
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Previous experience in irrigation installation, landscaping, or outdoor construction
  • Familiarity with PVC pipe cutting, gluing, and basic irrigation components
  • Basic understanding of irrigation layouts or construction drawings
  • Experience with trenchers or other light construction equipmentBilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills
  • Attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
  • Interest in advancing into irrigation technician, crew leader, or foreman roles
  • 2 Wire troubleshooting is highly desirable
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and the ability to pass an MVR check
