Job summary

Matrix Service is seeking experienced personnel to supervise structural crews, coordinate tool and equipment inventories, and analyze complex ironwork projects to ensure timely completion. The role emphasizes safety, compliance with OSHA standards, and strong leadership across the crew.

The position requires at least four years in refinery maintenance or construction, NCCER certification or a Craft Skills Test score of 70%+, and completion of company safety trainings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years of refinery maintenance/turnaround/construction experience.
  • Knowledge of structural iron repair, maintenance, and preventative methods.
  • Pass Craft Skills Test at 70% or have NCCER certification.
  • Understanding of Matrix Service policies and procedures.
  • Completed Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training, S.T.A.R.T. Class and site training.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain active status in drug testing programs (including DISA).
  • Subject to random drug screenings.

Job Function(s)
  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its Core Values.

  • Coordinate the inventory of power tools, equipment and hoses for Structural crew
  • Analyze complex structural ironwork projects and recommending alternative strategies to complete the same project
  • Reviewing project status reports prepared by the general foreman and reallocating resources to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and code standards specific to the structural ironwork trade, including OSHA standards
  • Maintain Safety Accountability Procedures.
  • Assure that a high quality of work is being maintained.
  • Reviewing individual crew daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for compliance, and attending weekly crew safety meeting to make sure all employees are engaged in conversation
  • Have good supervisor skills for managing crews.
  • Promote a strong Safety culture within the crews supervised.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of four (4) years or more of refinery maintenance/turnaround/or construction experience.
  • Knowledge of structural iron repair, maintenance, and preventative maintenance methods, practices, and procedures
  • Must be able to pass the Craft Skills Test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft.
  • Must have a good understanding of Matrix Service policies and procedures.
  • Completed the Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training, S.T.A.R.T. Class and Client / Site specific training.
  • To obtain and maintain an active status within the required drug testing program.
  • Subject to random drug screenings.
  • Must be able to complete the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active status within the DISA drug testing program.
Physical Requirements:
  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and pip systems.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, piping and tools.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms. Will work at heights up to 300' utilizing proper fall protection.
  • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
