- Coordinate the inventory of power tools, equipment and hoses for Structural crew.
- Analyze complex structural ironwork projects and recommend alternative strategies to complete the same project.
- Review project status reports prepared by the general foreman and reallocate resources to ensure projects are completed on time.
- Knowledge of applicable safety and code standards specific to the structural ironwork trade, including OSHA standards.
- Maintain Safety Accountability Procedures.
- Assure that a high quality of work is being maintained.
- Review individual crew daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for compliance, and attend weekly crew safety meetings to engage employees in conversation.
- Have good supervisory skills for managing crews.
- Promote a strong Safety culture within the crews supervised.
- Identify safety hazards that may affect employees and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Perform all other job‑related duties as requested by supervision.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years or more of refinery maintenance, turnaround, or construction experience.
- Knowledge of structural iron repair, maintenance, and preventative maintenance methods, practices, and procedures.
- Must know how to read and interpret structural drawings.
- Must be able to pass the Craft Skills Test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft.
- Must have a good understanding of Matrix Service policies and procedures.
- Completed Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training, S.T.A.R.T. Class and client/site specific training.
- Must obtain and maintain an active status within the required drug testing program.
- Subject to random drug screenings.
- Must obtain and maintain an active status within the DISA drug testing program.
Licenses & Certifications
- NCCER Indust Ironworker (required)
Physical Requirements
- Adherence to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, piping and tools.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat and lift.
- Ability to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively.
- May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
- Work at slight heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work from platforms using appropriate fall protection requirements.
- Capable of working outside in the elements, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind for long periods of time up to 12 hours a day.
- Vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel‑toe boots.
Pay
Hiring range: $39.00 per hour. Full range for this position, available overtime: $39.00 per hour.
