Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with field experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate with supervision.
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, layout and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Read specifications or blueprints to determine material locations, quantities, or sizes.
• Fabricate metal parts such as frames, columns, beams, or girders per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unload and position prefabricated steel; hoist beams, girders, or columns into place using cranes or signaling.
• Verify alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using torches or welding equipment.
• Fit and position structural members for bolting, riveting, or welding.
• Bolting and riveting of structural members in place for permanent fastening.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or rigging to move heavy equipment or materials.
• Estimate sizes, distances, and materials needed for work activity.
• Inspect subordinate's work for contract compliance and correct deficiencies.
