Job summary

TIC Inc is hiring an entry-level skilled craft assistant to support skilled craftsmen on construction sites in Louisiana. You will learn to read blueprints, assist with fabricating steel parts, and help with hoisting and positioning structural components under supervision.

Responsibilities include reading specifications, verifying alignment, cutting and joining steel, and setting up rigging systems. Requires basic tool knowledge and ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with related experience.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Effective communication with management/supervision.
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
• Assist skilled craftsmen to fabricate metal parts according to blueprints or instructions.
• Assist with unloading and positioning prefabricated steel units for hoisting and operate or signal hoisting equipment.
• Verify alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using torches, shears, or welding equipment.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.
