Ironworker (Houston, TX) - Austin Industrial (TPC Capital)

Austin Industrial is currently seeking an Ironworker to join our staff located in Houston, TX. The candidate must be able to raise, place, and unite girders, columns, and other structural steel members to form completed structures or framework. This role involves performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Read blueprints and select required materials for construction.
• Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
• Fasten steel members to the cable of a hoist using chains, cables, or ropes.
• Guide lifted structures into proper position and align rivet holes with corresponding holes.
• Drive drift pins through rivet holes.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and workpieces during installation.
• Verify vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bobs and levels. Keep members in position with bolts until permanently fixed by bolting or welding.
• Align structures with bolts to maintain position until they are permanently riveted, bolted, or welded into place.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to sit, use hands, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, taste, and smell.
• Must regularly lift up to 25 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 4 years of Journeyman-level experience.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Valid TWIC card & PIN #.
• Ability to meet physical demands listed above.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to operate power tools and heavy equipment.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; employer sponsorship not available.
