Job summary

Qualifications

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
• Requires ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions with management/supervision.
• Able to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Reads specs/blueprints to determine material locations and sizes.
• Fabricates metal parts per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units for hoisting and guides crane operators.
• Verifies alignment using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces with torches or welding equipment.
• Positions structural steel using turnbuckles, jacks, or hand tools.
• Assists bolting/riveting/welding of structural members for permanent assembly.
• Assembles hoisting equipment or rigging to move heavy materials.
