Job summary

The Middlesex Corporation is a nationally recognized leader in heavy civil construction, with a long-standing commitment to safety, quality, and complex infrastructure projects. We seek an experienced ironworker to position and unite steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form complete frameworks.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, setting up hoisting equipment, aligning structures, and bolting components together.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience with layout, connecting and rigging.
• Ability to work at all heights.
• Ability to read blueprints, interpret symbols and abbreviations on plans and drawings.
• Prior rigging experience to include knowledge of hand signals, rigging gear, inspection and proper use.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all Safety policies and procedures and report accidents and near misses.
• Read specifications and blueprints to determine locations, quantities, and sizes of materials.
• Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members and hoist beams, girders, and columns into place.
• Verify alignment and plumbing of steel structures and correct erected structures as needed.
• Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts following blueprints using bolts, nuts, washers and torqueing.
