Job summary

UM Rehabilitation & Orthopedic Institute is seeking a PPS Coordinator to oversee IRF-PAI completion and CMS regulatory compliance. You will guide the rehab team, monitor admissions and length of stay, and ensure documentation accuracy.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years in inpatient rehab or acute care with a focus on quality improvement and utilization review. Collaboration with physicians and therapists is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology required.
• Two to three years of inpatient rehabilitation or acute care experience including QA/UR.

Responsibilities

• Completes the IRF-PAI in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines.
• Selects Impairment Group Code (IGC) based on physician documentation.
• Collaborates with Interdisciplinary Rehab Team to develop patient assessments.
• Maintains policies, procedures, and workflows for IRF-PAI per CMS updates.
• Counsels on clinical documentation improvement with education for providers.
• Monitors patient care for quality assurance, utilization review, and risk management.
• Determines appropriateness and medical necessity of admissions and stays.
• Evaluates accuracy and discrepancies in clinical documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Reviews patient records for timely, complete entries and supports QA indicators.
• Supports regulatory audits and CMS surveys as IRF PPS expert.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
