Job summary

Prairie Consulting Services in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design and modernize secure, resilient enterprise networks across on-premises, AWS, and Azure. This hands-on role focuses on automation, Terraform, and cloud networking to build scalable infrastructure.

You will work in a hybrid setting (3 days onsite per week) and contribute to network isolation, micro-segmentation, Zero Trust, and disaster recovery initiatives to safeguard critical systems and data.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
• Strong routing, switching, BGP, OSPF, and SDN experience.
• Hands-on Terraform and network automation experience.
• AWS and/or Azure networking experience.
• Network isolation, segmentation, and micro-segmentation experience.
• Experience with Disaster Recovery, Cyber Recovery, or Isolated Recovery Environments.
• Strong understanding of Zero Trust and secure network architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design and modernize secure, resilient enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises, AWS, and Azure.
• Hands-on implementation of network automation pipelines and Terraform configurations.
• Ensure network isolation and micro-segmentation aligned with Zero Trust.
• Support disaster recovery and cyber recovery planning and testing.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on network automation, Terraform, cloud networking, network isolation, micro‑segmentation, Zero Trust, and Cyber/Disaster Recovery.
