State Department Federal Credit Union in Alexandria, VA, is seeking a Support Services Specialist to manage all tasks related to the credit union's IRA program, including opening and closing IRA accounts, posting deposits, distributions, rollovers, and tax reporting with accuracy and compliance.

The role also processes foreign currency orders and the sale of currency, negotiates foreign checks, and handles IRS backup withholding notices, while maintaining timely documentation and adherence to

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of customer service experience in a financial institution; IRA experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Certified IRA Professional designation within two years of hire.
• Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage complex IRA matters and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee IRA portfolio operations, including openings, deposits, distributions, rollovers, and tax reporting.
• Maintain RMD information and notify members by January 31st each year.
• Prepare and mail IRA forms and letters; ensure compliance with tax code changes.
• Process foreign currency orders and sales with third-party vendors.
• Handle processing of IRS backup withholding notices and documentation.
