STATE DEPARTMENT FEDERAL CREDIT UNION is seeking a Support Services Specialist to manage the credit union’s IRA program and related processes. The role includes processing third-party verification requests, handling foreign currency orders, and negotiating foreign checks, with strict adherence to regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of customer service experience in a financial institution.
• IRA experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Certified IRA Professional designation within two years of hire.
• Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service, and phone skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee IRA portfolio including accounts and distributions, and process transfers between SDFCU and other financial institutions.
• Maintain IRA Required Minimum Distribution information and issue annual notices by Jan 31.
• Prepare and mail IRA forms and letters, ensuring tax code compliance and proper filing.
• Review reports related to IRA portfolio oversight and maintain audit-ready records.
• Process foreign currency orders and the sale of currency with third-party vendors.
• Handle IRS backup withholding notices and related tax documents.
