Job summary

Tidelands Health is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team. The IR Technologist will image vascular structures and support therapeutic interventions for diagnosis and treatment, while ensuring patient safety and high-quality care.

Responsibilities include assisting during procedures, maintaining sterile fields, managing specialized equipment, and documenting all procedures in the hospital system.

Qualifications

• Advanced understanding and daily application of ALARA concepts, radiation physics, and safety protocols.
• Proficient in aseptic technique, maintaining a sterile field, and handling specialized surgical wires, catheters, and stents.
• Strong communication across disciplines under high-pressure invasive procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent patient care by educating patients and families, reviewing lab values, and preparing patients for invasive procedures.
• Scrub in to assist the physician during procedures; maintain a strict sterile field and manage inventory.
• Operate advanced interventional equipment and adjust exposure factors, road mapping, and imaging protocols.
• Assist with a wide array of IR interventions including angiography, angioplasty, stenting, embolization, and access procedures.
• Document accurate patient histories, pre-procedure timeouts, and post-procedure metrics in HIS, RIS, and PACS.
• Demonstrate strict adherence to radiation safety measures, dosimetry, and lead shielding.
• Clean, troubleshoot, and maintain imaging equipment; restock IR suite inventory.
• Mentor, proctor, and train radiologic technology students and new hires.
