Job Summary
The IR Technologist assists physicians with diagnostic and interventional invasive procedures on patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. The technologist adheres to facility policy and procedures, assessing, implementing, documenting, and evaluating diagnostic services.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical patient care and daily functions of the IR/SP scope of practice.
- Assist and will be cross‑trained in the Cath Lab and associated areas as assigned by the department Charge RN and/or Director including but not limited to stress testing, Cath Lab, and PICC insertion.
- Provide health‑care services by applying X‑ray energy to support diagnosis or treatment.
- Assist the radiologist during all intervention radiology/special procedures cases.
Requirements
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RCIS).
- Current CPR certificate in Basic Life Support.
- BARR: Basic Arrhythmia Reading / Recognition (in‑house class; must pass within 90 days of hire).
- ACLS certification within one (1) year of hire.
- RCIS Registry or ARRT Registry (radiographer must complete VI or CI credential within one (1) year of hire).
- Minimum of two years in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of sterile technique preferred.
- Demonstrated experience establishing interpersonal relationships to promote a positive and effective working environment.
- Documented competence specific to special procedures for at least two years as a radiographer.
