Job summary

Sierra View Medical Center is seeking an Interventional Angio Technologist to perform imaging in the Cardiac Cath Lab and IR, under supervision with potential independence in procedures. The role demands adherence to AIDET and flexibility for assignments.

The candidate should hold California Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist licensure with Fluoroscopy, ARRT certification, and BLS. Two years' interventional radiology experience is preferred; strong teamwork is essential.

Job description

INTERVENTIONAL ANGIO TECH - IR/Angio - Full Time - Days

Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Position Summary: Under the direction of the department leader(s), the Interventional Angio Technologist performs professional duties involved in a variety of technical procedures and is responsible for all imaging aspects in the Cardiac Cath Lab and IR with latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Must maintain compliance with governing agency regulations. May be assigned to other imaging modalities. Must follow AIDET and accept reassignments and additional duties when necessary in a flexible and positive manner. Must maintain an environment of cohesiveness and teamwork.

Must work normal/scheduled working hours, including holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, on-call, and be available for emergencies and community disasters per the California Emergency Services Act. Must fulfill affirmative duty to report misconduct or violations.

Education / Training / Experience: Two (2) years of experience in Interventional Radiology preferred. Basic computer skills. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, calculate figures, and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Capable of effectively and ethically dealing with coworkers, physicians, and other hospital personnel.

Licensure / Certifications: Current licensure as a Diagnostic Radiological Technologist and Fluoroscopy in the state of California. ARRT certification. BLS certification, or obtain within orientation.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures, radiographic procedures using prescribed positions, technical factors and immobilization devices. Responsible for image quality.
  • Perform direct patient care, assessment, treatment or care appropriate to patient age groups.
  • Order and maintain a complete inventory of supplies for Angio and Cardiac Cath needs.
  • Perform Angiography tests according to protocol.
  • Utilize sterile techniques; prepare sterile trays.
  • Select, operate and maintain equipment; provide radiation protection in accordance with safety standards.
  • Maintain adequate records and keep work area clean and neat.
  • Use hardware in Digital Radiology system and archiving system as per protocol; print hard copies when necessary.
  • Operate Angio-Cath Lab, selecting proper technical factors, maintaining high image quality.
  • Assume clerical and quality assurance duties as assigned.
  • Assist radiologist with contrast materials and perform venipuncture for contrast administration under supervision.
  • Operate automatic infusion pumps, ensuring proper flow rates and volumes; full knowledge of injector operation.
  • Enter correct patient information on keyboard, ensure proper naming and ID numbers.
  • Keep work area clean; report equipment malfunctions.
  • Be cross‑trained in Angio and Cardiac Cath Lab; train new employees and assist radiology students.
  • Adapt procedures and improve techniques in emergencies and unusual situations.
  • Recognize diagnostically acceptable exams and consistently provide quality exams.
  • Follow AIDET.
  • Accept reassignments and additional duties as necessary with positive flexibility.

Professional Clinical Responsibilities / Quality Indicators:

  • Responsible for delegated areas in routine procedure assignment.
  • Assist in development of examination routines and techniques.
  • Maintain adequate records; keep work area clean.
  • Perform basic equipment function checks each shift.
  • Maintain no more than 2–3 errors in the computed radiology system.
  • Complete all exams in Meditech and Synapse PACS; scan documents and type notes.
  • Ensure images are available in PACS after completion.
