GI Alliance in Reston, VA is seeking an IR Sedation Nurse to assess and develop care plans for patients receiving moderate sedation during radiology procedures. The RN ensures safety, comfort, and confidentiality while supporting the procedure team.

Responsibilities include preparing rooms, administering medications, monitoring vitals, and training new staff, with daily inventory and post-op follow-up as part of patient care continuity.

Responsabilidades

• Prepares patient and procedure room for radiology procedures in compliance with policies and regulations.
• Performs necessary preparations for the patient procedure room.
• Stocks the Nursing Cart with supplies including EKG leads and oxygen.
• Prints the daily schedule and pre-op template.
• Conducts narcotic counts in the morning and documents all used narcotics.
• Performs end-of-day narcotic count.
• Checks in the first patient of the day, explains the procedure, answers questions and addresses concerns.
• Administers medications pre-, intra-, and post-operatively.
• Monitors vitals intra-operatively, including BP, EKG, and oxygen saturation; ensures airway patency.
• Scans items used in the procedure room into inventory system.
• Administers sedation medication through IV.
• Handles sedation transfer from the procedure room to holding area; records initial vitals.
• Complies with HIPAA regarding patient confidentiality.
• Oversees crash cart; performs AED checks and daily checks of expired meds.
• Checks inventory monthly and restocks outdated items.
• Trains new nurses and medical assistants as needed.
• Makes post-op call and documents in patient's chart.
