Job summary

J.S. Held, Ocean Tomo division, is seeking an Intern to join the Intellectual Property team in Chicago. This is an entrepreneurial, highly driven internship where you’ll apply valuation and management concepts beyond a traditional intern role.

You will build complex financial models, conduct market and company research, and draft client materials while engaging with clients and management. Hybrid schedule, office 2-3 days weekly in Chicago.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergrad in finance or economics
• Experience in investment banking, private equity, M&A, corporate finance, and/or IP preferred
• Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Strong financial modeling skills and valuation understanding
• Excellent oral and written communication
• High professionalism, integrity, and flexibility
• Self-starter with ownership and urgency
• Great attitude and client presence
• Ability to go to the office 2-3 days a week
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Construct financial analyses and build complex models
• Perform technology, industry, and company research
• Draft client presentations, pitch books, reports, or memoranda
• Assist with IP landscape analysis and patent portfolio evaluation
• Identify and engage contacts at target companies
