Job summary

Ocean Tomo, a part of J.S. Held, seeks an intellectually curious IP, Valuation & Management Consulting Intern for Summer 2027 in Chicago. The role blends finance, IP analysis, and client-facing deliverables in a high-energy, hybrid setting.

The intern will build financial models, conduct market research, and assist with landscape analyses while engaging with management and clients. Office presence 2–3 days weekly is expected as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate business degree in finance, accounting or economics or related field.
• Relevant work experience in finance, IB, private equity, M&A, corporate finance, or IP preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Construct financial analyses and build complex models.
• Perform technology, industry, and company research.
• Draft client presentations, pitch books, reports, letters or memoranda.
• Assist with IP landscape analysis and evaluation of patents for salability.
• Identify and engage contacts at target companies and interact with clients.
