Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking an Intellectual Property Manager to support innovation, IP development, and commercialization through Technology Commercialization. You will build relationships across academia, industry and investors to advance transfer of new technologies into real-world applications.

This role supports education and outreach, data reporting, and portfolio stewardship, driving strategic IP management and enabling impactful translational opportunities

Qualifications

  • Required: Master’s Degree in a scientific, business, or healthcare related field.
  • Four years in intellectual property assessment/protection or technology transfer; with a PhD, three years.
  • Preferred: Experience in technology transfer, IP management, or patent strategy; exposure to patent prosecution; involvement in licensing, startups, or commercialization.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate invention disclosures for patentability, technical merit, and alignment with IP objectives.
  • Lead stewardship of assigned IP portfolios through full lifecycle management and prosecution planning.
  • Coordinate with transaction teams to support licensing and partnerships; align portfolios with commercialization strategies.
  • Educate and engage faculty on invention disclosures; deliver workshops on IP practices and commercialization pathways.
  • Analyze filing trends and portfolio activity to inform strategic decisions and reporting.
