Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a respected law firm to recruit an experienced intellectual property paralegal. This full-time role supports attorneys across patent, trademark, and IP matters, handling filings, prosecution, deadlines, and client communications.

You will manage domestic and international portfolios, coordinate with foreign associates, and assist with PCT and national phase filings.

Qualifications

• IP paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
• Experience supporting patent and/or trademark prosecution.
• Strong knowledge of USPTO procedures and filing requirements.
• Familiarity with domestic and international IP prosecution processes.
• Experience with IP docketing systems, electronic filing platforms, and document management systems.
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with domestic and international patent and trademark prosecution matters.
• Prepare and coordinate patent and trademark applications, responses, assignments, declarations, and related filings.
• Prepare and submit documents to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Monitor patent and trademark deadlines and maintain accurate docket information.
• Review correspondence from government agencies, foreign associates, clients, and attorneys and coordinate necessary follow up.
• Prepare client reporting letters, portfolio updates, and status reports.
• Coordinate with foreign associates regarding international patent and trademark filings and prosecution matters.
• Assist with Patent Cooperation Treaty applications and foreign national phase filings as applicable.
• Prepare and record intellectual property assignments and ownership documents.
• Conduct research using IP databases and government records.
• Support attorneys with IP due diligence, portfolio reviews, licensing matters, and related projects.
• Maintain organized electronic files and ensure IP records are accurate and current.
• Communicate with attorneys, clients, inventors, foreign associates, and other parties regarding ongoing matters and deadlines.
